Dear Abbeville Dentistry,

It truly pains me to be in pain, you caused that.

Due to you refusing to help me, even after the results from the TSBDE (you know the investigative board that found the care below basic dental standards and whom your dentist agreed to settle with,) you refused to help me.

Please remember I specifically gave the opportunity to just cover the expenses incurred and have y’all help isolate how to fix my pain. I was thinking giving you a range would allow the minimum of the range and an apology; that would have satisfied me, gas and acknowledgement of the mistakes.

Instead, y’all ignored my request and hired lawyers to stop it from making it to where I could share my concerns with a judge. Albeit, I agree, I was allowing the judge to have more say in the money I might be awarded by increasing the range, but honestly I couldn’t believe your dentist had done this to multiple other people in the past and you were still allowing it.

It’s mind boggling to me that y’all can just withhold my records.

I did find it amusing you referenced abatement as you refused to provide the documents to me that would’ve shown that was an option.

I just want to share what y’all did to me and that the TSBDE is the one who determined how bad it was; that the dentist agreed to settle with them and y’all still refused to help me.

I truly believe y’all were shoving as many people through that dental chair as you could get money from; it has cost me thousands and pain.

I wish you would have helped me when your dentist harmed me instead of covering for them.  Or I wish we could have come to an agreement on the proper way to correct Dr. Ericson’s mistakes. Like, I literally came back to y’all and you told me how abscessed it was and there were hundreds of millions of bacteria in my mouth. Instead of helping me you referred me out and refused to even give me my medical records.

Sadly, you thought it would be a better investment to hire lawyers to silence me from the judge. Abbeville Dentistry, I hope you are able to figure out how to get your dentist with a history of not following basic dental standards to follow them; I hope you increase your standards to ensure that your dentists meet basic dental standards on every patient, because I know first hand the pain, time, effort and costs that come with correcting their mistakes.

—— Update 03/2025

Honestly, I had come to terms with having this tooth pain for the rest of my life. I had made this website and got most of the frustrations that had built up by being a Bad Dentist for Halloween and sharing with my fam.

Then, one of those family members calls and explains how Dr. Ericson, the dentist that no longer works there and you insisted did not, provided bad care and then “disappeared.” I think it is interesting that you can just say a dentist does not work there and believe it voids you of all responsibility.

I am here to hopefully effect some responsibility. I think sharing everything here is a good start and will hopefully let people see their options and my mistakes.

I am also including this piece from my lawsuit; maybe more people will gather their documents as they do their visits instead of having to sue for their medical records:

It has come to the attention of Plaintiff DeVore that in Dr. Ericson's last complaint with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners, there were noted failures to keep comprehensive records for multiple patients. This failure has not only been cited officially but has also been consistent with Plaintiff DeVore’s experience, also officially cited, suggesting a possible systematic approach to evade accountability for substandard care. The lack of complete records severely hinders the ability of patients to seek redress for any malpractice or to prove the extent of the negligence experienced.
